The scope of the project the writer will document is to re-engineer an existing system in favor of newer .net technologies with increased functionality. Technical Writer/Editor II Writes and/or edits technical documents, including business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet contrast requirements. Develops outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations. Researches and gathers technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables. Consults relevant information sources, including library resources, technical and financial documents, and client and project personnel, to obtain background information and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables. Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience. FLSA Exempt. Responsibilities: Lead all software related documentation development. Coordinate with developers and architects to verify document scope and appropriate structure and content. Develop and produce technical documents using standard software development life cycle methodologies. Produce documentation that will include, but is not limited to: application/system reference manuals, user manuals, specifications and Standard Operating Procedures. Establish and maintain security protection controls. Interact and collaborate effectively with internal and external team members to assure needs are met. Provide reports and updates as required. Perform other duties as assigned by manager. Requirements: Bachelor Degree in computer science or related field. 5 years experience preparing technical documentation in a software development environment, preferred 2 years experience in a DOD environment.
