          Patient Care Technician
          Department: 3 South (Special Care Unit)
          Shift: 72 Hrs/pp 7am - 7:30pm Day shift w/every 3rd wknd
          Job Details: - Associates degree required or diploma RN
          - CPR Required
          - Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant License
          - 1-2 years of experience is preferred
          - Ability to pass a medical knowledge assessment
          - Completion of an approved phlebotomy course

          SUMMARY:
          The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs direct patient care tasks under the direction of the Registered Nurse and performs various tasks as competency documentation designates. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange relevant information. Communication with external contacts involves providing or giving factual information.

          REQUIREMENTS:
          Must have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma, completion of an approved medical training program beyond high school (i.e., PCT Training Program, Nursing Technician), completion of an approved phlebotomy course and Nursing Assistant Certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing. A minimum of one year hands-on patient care experience in a hospital setting providing patient care is preferred. Must pass the medical knowledge test. IV initiation, EKG, foley catheter insertion, basic respiratory/physical therapy skills preferred.
